I enter Jubilife City, and Dawn suggests that I visit the Trainer School, which is where Barry is at now. Then I take on two schoolkids that each use a very powerful Abra, and then get tasked to collect coupons from a bunch of clowns so that I can get myself the Pokétch.

As for the rest of the description, I recommend watching the full video before reading past this point of the description

Jubilife City has some really nice music, and I am playing this part in the morning, so that is 4am to 10am, the daytime is 10am to 8pm, and night is 8pm to 4am, so it's like the original games when it comes to the time.
What you have to do is enter the Trainer School and give the parcel to Barry, and he gives you a Town Map, then talk to two children on the right, they both use Abra, in the original games, these Abra knew Hidden Power, but in this game, they know Charge Beam, which comes from their high Special Attack stat and has a chance of raising their Special Attack by one stage, so if you are using Starly, watch out for that, but Starly can use Quick Attack to target Abra's low Defense stat, and Shinx does resist Charge Beam.
After beating them, the boy gives you three TM10s, they contain Work Up, and in this game, TMs are single use, which feels like a step back, because I appreciated TMs being infinite use, but now they are back to being one use, but the nice thing is you can get multiple copies of each TM in this game.
Then I meet up with a man who tasks me to collect three coupons from each of the clowns, you have to answer yes to them, then return to the man to get a Pokétch, you have three apps, the watch, calculator, pedometer, and Pokémon list. In the original games, the calculator would play the cry of the Pokémon if the answer is the same number as that Pokémon in the Sinnoh Dex, so if the answer of 13, it would play Bidoof's cry.
As for items, you can get a Quick Claw from one house, which is a helpful item for slower Pokémon, as there is a 20% chance they will attack first in battle.
Then to go over encounters, you can get the Old Rod from a fisherman in Route 218, and if you fish in any body of water, you can get Magikarp. This Pokémon is very weak, but if you invest enough time, it will eventually evolve into Gyarados, a very strong Water/Flying-type with a high Attack stat, and possibly the best Water-type option in the game, it does get some nice moves like Waterfall, Crunch, and Dragon Dance, so I highly recommend it if you can get Magikarp up to Level 20.
One encounter on Route 204 is Budew, so there is your Grass-type option if you didn't choose Turtwig. Budew is a Special Attacker, and it does require friendship in order to evolve, but it needs to be daytime in order to evolve, as for when to evolve Budew, I recommend at least Level 15, so that way it can get Magical Leaf as a Roselia, otherwise you are stuck with Absorb until Level 30 when it learns Giga Drain. It is possibly one of the best Grass-type options in the game, because once it is fully evolved, it has a high Special Attack stat, so I would recommend Budew, but you can catch wild Roselia later in the game, so if you don't feel like using Budew, you can get Roselia in the wild later on.
Then for Ravaged Path, there isn't much we can do, but there are some Pokémon you can encounter, the most common is Zubat, it has a weak start, it isn't until Level 15 that it can learn Poison Fang. Zubat is a fast Poison/Flying-type Pokémon, and it is quite a useful Pokémon, it does require friendship to be fully evolved, but once it is fully evolved, it is one of the fastest Pokémon in the game, so I would recommend Zubat if you can put your time into training one.
Next is Geodude, is a Rock/Ground-type Pokémon with a good Defense stat and a solid Attack stat, it does get Rollout at Level 10, and some nice Rock-type moves like Rock Throw and Smack Down. Its Rock-type does give it good resistances in the early game, but the downside is the Rock-type does have a lot of weaknesses which do become more common later in the game. Once you evolve it into Graveler, you will need to trade it in order to evolve it into Golem, and as for its Ability, I recommend Sturdy.
Then the rarest encounter, Psyduck is a 2% encounter in Ravaged Path, and is your earliest option for a Water-type if you did not choose Piplup. Psyduck will have Water Gun right away, and it learns Confusion at Level 6, and another good thing is Psyduck can learn Water Pulse at Level 12, giving it a good Water-type move for this point in the game. The downside to Psyduck is that it does not evolve until Level 33, but once it is evolved, it becomes a well rounded Water-type Pokémon with good stats all-around, I wouldn't go out of your way of finding one, as you can find Psyduck in other places more frequently than in Ravaged Path.
