The battle with Giovanni can be a tricky one. I 2HKO'd both Rhyhorn with Brick Brick. Again, they have Rock Blast and one of then used it. Luckily, it missed and I switched out to Rattata to restore Charizards original speed (thanks to Scary Face). I use a X-Special and OHKO's the rest of Giovanni's Pokémon with Flamethrower.
I exited the Gym and flew to Fuchsia City. I gave the Golden Teeth to the Warden and received Strength. I taught that to Lapras and Earthquake to Charizard. I picked up the Rare Candy in his house and flew back to Viridian. I saved right before the rival encounter.

Saved at 2:07 with a L48 Charizard
