I try to go through Diglett’s Cave, but find out that I have to beat Lt. Surge first. I battle him (6:00), then go through Diglett’s Cave which takes you to Route 2. While there, I make a detour to Pewter City to pick up some Old Amber, then head back to Route 2 where Pikachu learns the Secret Technique, Light Up, from one of Professor Oak’s aides. Afterward, I take the long way to Route 9, catching a good amount of Pokémon before heading there (25:52). I spend quite a bit of time taking on the trainers there before heading to the Rock Tunnel, but before that, Lorelei helps you out with taking down some Team Rocket Grunts at 38:40. Go through Rock Tunnel (44:59), defeat the trainers within and capture some more Pokémon for more EXP, then end up in Lavender Town (1:21:34) and save at the Pokémon Center.
