Maylene is one of the easiest gym leaders thanks to Torterra's Earthquake. I used a Super Potion when Meditite uses Fake Out so I don't waste my turn. Machoke coudn't be OHKO'd by Earthquake, so I used Razor Leaf first. Lucario is still annoying if it can paralyze Torterra. I left the gym and fought the two Grunts with Rowans assistant. Hitting a Zubat with Earthquake after Gravity feels always good.
I got Fly after another conversation with Looker. I left Veilstone City and fought two trainers on Route 214. One is required and it's faster to fight the Ruin Maniac instead of dodging him. I healed up in Resort Hotel. I dodged more rotating trainers on Route 213. Then I saved in Pastoria City before battling my rival.

Saved at 1:29 with a L34 Torterra.
