I want an Abra so I can easily teleport between the cities before I get Fly. I resetted the game until I got one. The Granite Cave is easy enough to navigate so Flash isn't needed. I talked to Steven and then used the Escape Rope I found. I've decided to skip Brawly because he is very hard for Marshtomp at such a low level. I'll come back here before facing Norman.
I went to Slateport with Briney and obtained the Soft Sand to power up my Ground Moves. Then I taught Marshtomp Rock Tomb (shudder) and went straight to the museum. I really should have used Rock Tomb on that Zubat, but I really don't like it that the move has only 80 % accuracy. Luckily Supersonic missed and I was free to move on. Then I moved on, dodging all the trainers and saved before the second rival battle.
