Pokemon SoulSilver – Whitney (no exp)
0I'm really happy with this attempt honestly. Whitney usually is a brick wall in a normal run unless you use an overleveled starter, the traded Machop, a Heracross or a levelled Geodude or Onix but here she's quite tame !
Whitney starts the battle with her Clefairy while I lead with a Dratini that I bought in the Game corner. Its level is pretty good for now and he's got the very useful Dragon rage. Dratini outspeeds Clefairy and two Dragon rages are more than enough to defeat her but I need to use a third one because Clefairy gets healed with a Super potion. Clefairy will usually either use Mimic to copy Dragon rage or Doubleslap to do some damage that Dratini can mitigate thanks to healing from a Shell bell. Here she did the best thing ever : Metronome into Splash ! That's fearsome !
The dreaded Miltank is next and yeah it lives up to its name with this moveset : it's really fast so Stomp can flinch, Rollout is deadly if she can get a few turns in and she can gain some time with Attract and Milk drink. She also has new answers in her ability Scrappy to deal with Gastly and a Lum berry to heal a status condition.
I start this fight with Exeggcute who only needs to use Leech seed once (the held Zoom lens gives Leech seed 100% accuracy). He can usually take two hits (Miltank has about a 10% chance to 2HKO) so a flinch isn't too punishing. I then will switch into Stantler to lower Miltank's attack with Intimidate and I'll attack while healing from Leech seed. I even avoid her other healing item by using Leer to deal enough damage with Leech seed to avoid it !
I had another plan if I needed to : I had a damaged Butterfree to trigger Rollout to let the traded Machop come in and deal good damage with Karate chop if necessary. I could also use the Protect TM from the Goldenrod dept store to reset Rollout but I didn't need it.
