The Rental Pokémon we got for this battle did give us some Pokémon of many types, I got three Water-type Pokémon, while the CPU got some of many types, like Magmar, Cloyster, and Alakazam. While I did end up leading with Venomoth, it wasn't the best at this battle, as it was weak to Psychic-type moves from Drowzee and Alakazam, while it was at a disadvantage against Magmar.
I do see Electabuzz as a good Rental Pokémon as it has Thunder Wave to paralyze opponents, and it has ThunderPunch for a reliable Electric-type move, and I do make use of Lapras for most of the battle, because the CPU doesn't tend to put the best use of that Pokémon.
Alakazam is one example of a Rental Pokémon where it has weaker moves than its pre-evolved forms, which know Psychic, while it has Psybeam, it is a good balance to the Pokémon, but at least the evolved Pokémon have some moves they can make use of, like Electabuzz has ThunderPunch, and Lapras has Ice Beam, and even Moltres has some good attacks, Fire Blast instead of something weak like Ember or Fire Spin, at least this isn't Pokémon Stadium 2 where some evolved Pokémon have low power attacks, and Metapod only has Harden in that game as a Rental Pokémon, while in this game, Metapod can at least deal damage, but not do that much as its Attack stat is really low.
