The next Pokémon that I trade for Surprise Trade is Clauncher, a Water-type that is version exclusive to Pokémon Violet, and this was a Pokémon that I have done Surprise Trade for in Sword & Shield.
I breed for 31 IVs in at least 4 or 5 stats, and I went with Modest for the Nature, as the Clauncher line have Special Attack for its best stat, and the rest of its stats are kind of average, with Speed being quite on the low side. Mega Launcher is an exclusive Ability to the Clauncher line, as this power up any Pulse or Aura moves by 50%.
Clauncher learns three Egg Moves, those being Aqua Tail, Bubble Beam, and Entrainment, and for examples of which Pokémon can learn those moves, Aqua Tail from Finizen, Gyarados, and Marill, it learns Bubble Beam from Surskit, Marill, and Crabrawler, and Entrainment is a rare move, with Pawmi, Petilil, and Dedenne being the many Pokémon that can learn that move.
Clauncher has Water Gun and Splash for its starting moves, and for level up moves, it can learn Vise Grip, Flail, Aqua Jet, Smack Down, Hone Claws, Water Pulse, Swords Dance, Aura Sphere, Bounce, Muddy Water, and Crabhammer, it evolves into Clawitzer at Level 37, and for moves it can learn as Clawitzer, it can get Dark Pulse, Dragon Pulse, and Heal Pulse.
Next are TMs, and I will go over what Clawitzer can learn, it can get Mud-Slap, Scary Face, Pounce, Chilling Water, Icy Wind, Mud Shot, Venoshock, Rain Dance, U-turn, Rock Slide, Flash Cannon, Liquidation, Shadow Ball, Surf, Ice Beam, Hydro Pump, Helping Hand, Blizzard, Sludge Bomb, Giga Impact, Focus Blast, Hyper Beam, and Tera Blast.
While Clawitzer does have a good Special Attack stat, the rest of its stats aren't that great when compared to most other Pokémon, usually some of the top sweepers in the competitive scene, Clawitzer is really slow to get in some best use in battle. It at least stands out for having Mega Launcher for its Ability to boost the power of moves like Water Pulse, Aura Sphere, Dragon Pulse, and Dark Pulse, and it does get decent coverage in moves like Sludge Bomb, Ice Beam, and Flash Cannon. As for where it is ranked, Clawitzer is placed 103rd in the current format, while it can make use of the moves I went over, it can use Aqua Jet for priority, and for Tera Type, Dragon, Fighting, and Dark are good choices for powering up Clawitzer's other moves, or Water to further increase the power of Water Pulse, if Clawitzer needs type coverage, Electric for Tera Blast to take down Water-type opponents is a good choice to go with. It can use items like Assault Vest or Choice Specs, as those pair well with Clawitzer being a powerful Special Attack, while Assault Vest gives it enough Special Defense to withstand Special Attacks better. In Single Battles, Clawitzer is outclassed by Wash Rotom, Dondozo, Azumarill, and Palafin when it comes to Water-type competition, while other Water-type Pokémon, like Quaquaval, Cloyster, Vaporeon, and Gyarados rank higher than it.
In Double Battles, Clawitzer is ranked 124th, it is outclassed by Wash Rotom, Palafin, Gyarados, Azumarill, Gastrodon, and many others, and on the current rankings for Double Battles, Lumineon is ranked 125th, it must be due to access to moves like Tailwind and Chilling Water, and Lumineon being a decent support Pokémon in Double Battles. Clawitzer can learn Heal Pulse to support allies, and it can use Muddy Water to hit both targets, Ghost is listed as a notable Tera Type for Clawitzer, likely because of Fake Out, while Dark or Fighting are some good choices to power up Dark Pulse or Aura Sphere. Clawitzer is a decent Pokémon in Trick Room teams, with Pokémon like Hatterene or Farigiraf being the one to set up Trick Room to allow Clawitzer to get in some attacks off.
Clawitzer is a Pokémon that I have used in Sword & Shield online battles, I really liked how it can learn Terrain Pulse, so I used Clawitzer along with Pokémon that have Abilities that set up terrain, like Indeedee and Rillaboom, and use Terrain Pulse to get in some damage based on the active terrain, while being boosted by Mega Launcher. Clawitzer does not get Terrain Pulse in this game, which removed the one thing I liked about using it.
It can be a tough Pokémon to train up due to its late evolution, but once evolved, Clawitzer is a solid Water-type Pokémon when going through the game, as it would be stuck with Water Gun until Level 30 when it learns Water Pulse, having Bubble Beam early on does help Clauncher out in the early game. As a Tera Raid option, it's at least a Special Attacker, and it does get some support move like Heal Pulse and Helping Hand, but it does face competition with Vaporeon and Gastrodon when it comes to Water-type Special Attackers, and they have better defensive stats than Clawitzer, and at least they are easier to get compared to Walking Wake, the best Water-type Special Attacker for Tera Raids, but obtaining Walking Wake isn't that easy as it has only been available in limited time Tera Raid Events.
