Before going on about this fight, there are some Pokémon news to go over, first up, they revealed a new Mythical Pokémon called Zarude which will appear in the most recent Pokémon Movie in Japan, it is a Grass/Dark-type, not much information is revealed about Zarude, but at least it wasn't datamined pre-release like with Marshadow, Zeraora, and a few other Mythical Pokémon before then.
There was also a Pokémon of the Year poll on Google to vote your favourite Pokémon for each Generation, and to nobody's surprise, Greninja got 1st place, and other Pokémon to make it to top 10 include Lucario, Mimikyu, Charizard, Umbreon, Sylveon, Garchomp, Rayquaza, Gardevoir, and Gengar, not a single Gen 8 Pokémon ranked that high, so the team I am using is based on the top 6 Pokémon from Gen 8 in placement through Pokémon of the Year.
The top 6 Pokémon in that order is Dragapult, Toxtricity, Corviknight, Snom, Alcremie, and Cinderace, and the exception is that I use Snom's evolved form Frosmoth on the team, because who in the world would use a Snom in online battles?
My opponent has some good Pokémon, and some very unusual choices, like Noctowl and Hitmontop, which are Pokémon you don't see very often, well Hitmontop was a viable option in VGC Tournaments in previous games, and I do like the choice of Arcanine, Machamp, and Bisharp for this fight.
Toxtricity and Frosmoth make their online battle debut in this video, and I have used this Cinderace a few times. Toxtricity is a Pokémon that I was waiting to use in online battles, and here he is, I did give him a Throat Spray, so if my Toxtricity uses a sound-based move, like Boomburst or Overdrive, he can get a Special Attack boost, and I have heard that Toxtricity is really good in online battles, even if he does have a 4x weakness to Ground, and his Speed is a bit average, so some investment in Speed is required if you want to get the best use of Toxtricity.
As for my Frosmoth, this is a very tricky Pokémon to use, as Ice/Bug is one of the worse defensive type combos, because Frosmoth is 4x weak to Fire and Rock, mine has Heavy-Duty Boots, so if the opponent has Spikes or Stealth Rock set up, Frosmoth will not be affected by entry hazards, Heavy-Duty Boots is a nice item for Pokémon that have a weakness to Rock. Despite heaving below average Speed, Quiver Dance does help Frosmoth out in battle, as the boost in Speed from Quiver Dance can help in sweeping its opponents, and I gave him Hurricane so that when Dynamaxed, my Frosmoth can use Max Airstream. He does have Ice Scales, so that way Frosmoth can switch in against a Special Attack that is not super-effective, and I can use that turn to get in a Quiver Dance, this Pokémon might not be a top-tier Pokémon, but at least I decided to give Frosmoth a chance.
