It is time to put the Dragon-type to the test, a type that has a lot of very powerful Pokémon, and the type that was once considered overpowered until the introduction of Fairy-type Pokémon in Gen 6, which were there to keep the Dragon-type in check.
For my team, I go with some powerful Pokémon in terms of attacking, starting the fight is Hydreigon, he has a Choice Scarf and has some powerful moves like Dark Pulse and Draco Meteor, while Flamethrower is for type coverage, and U-turn to switch out. Hydreigon is a very powerful Dynamax user, and he learns a wide variety of moves, I did consider Flash Cannon at first, but since I am not very likely to keep Hydreigon in against any Fairy-type Pokémon, another Pokémon on the team is better at the job.
That Pokémon is Duraludon, and he can Gigantamax, and his Dragon-type moves turn into G-Max Depletion, while the Attack drop from Max Wyrmwind is more reliable, G-Max Depletion can be overpowered against moves with low PP, like Hydro Pump and Fire Blast. I went with Solar Beam for Max Overgrowth, and so I have a coverage option against Ground-type Pokémon. Duraludon is one of my top 5 favourite Pokémon in Gen 8, and is even in my top 10 favourite Pokémon in both the Steel and Dragon-types.
The last Pokémon that I chose is Haxorus, this is another one of my favourite Dragon-type Pokémon, and Gen 5 did introduce most of my favourite Pokémon, and Haxorus is no exception. She has Mold Breaker for her Ability, so her Earthquake can hit Pokémon with Levitate, and she has Dragon Dance to boost her Speed and very high Attack to scary levels, and Outrage to inflict some devastating damage to foes, and Iron Tail for type coverage against Fairy-type Pokémon, and Haxorus is a very dangerous Pokémon when Dynamaxed.
While the choices I went with are very powerful Dragon-type Pokémon, this is a type that has mostly powerful Pokémon, some can be good Physical attackers, like Dracovish and Dracozolt, and there are some good Mixed attackers like Dragapult that can fill in for the team. For other good options, Flygon, Kingdra, Goodra, Kommo-o, Dragalge, and some other Pokémon can be powerful options to consider for the team, and while Duraludon is my Gigntamax option, Flapple and Appletun can Gigantamax as well.
The Dragon-type is not without lower tier options, like Turtonator, Drampa, Noivern, Druddigon, Alolan Exeggutor, and a few others, so the Dragon-type does have a good selection of Pokémon to choose from.
With the Crown Tundra coming soon, we should get a good amount of Dragon-type Pokémon, as they did confirm that some Pokémon, like Dragonite, Garchomp, and a few others are returning, and I believe that Salamence and Altaria are returning as well. Dragon is a common type for Legendary Pokémon, but the only ones that would be allowed are Latias and Latios, because we do have some overpowered ones like Rayquaza, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, and many others.
