I get to Surprise Trade another Starter Pokémon, and for this week, it is Rowlet, which is well timed with Pokémon Legends: Arcues coming in two weeks from the time this video does go up, because Rowlet is one of the Starter Pokémon in that game.
I breed for 31 IVs in at least 4 or 5 stats, and for the Nature, I went with Adamant, as the Rowlet line tend to work more as Physical Attackers, some have the Hidden Ability of Long Reach, and there are some with Overgrow. The good thing about Rowlet is that it is a Grass/Flying-type, it is the second Starter Pokémon to have two types in its base form, the first was Bulbasaur back in Gen 1, and both of them are Grass-type Starter Pokémon.
For Egg Moves, Rowlet can get Confuse Ray, Defog, Double Team, and Knock Off, those are the only four moves it can get, I will list which parents in the Flying Egg Group that can learn those moves.
Confuse Ray: Zubat, Golbat, Crobat, Natu, Xatu
Defog: G-Farfetch'd, Rufflet, Braviary, Sirfetch'd
Double Team: Noibat, Noivern
Knock Off: Farfetch'd, G-Farfetch'd, Sirfetch'd

Another thing I want to go over, these Rowlet are in a Safari Ball, there was a Wild Area event months ago where you can get the Alola Starters in Max Raid Battles, and this was the only time you could ever catch them in anything other than a Poké Ball, and this was big, because before that event, the only type of ball you can have the Alola Starters in were in a Poké Ball.
Going over Rowlet's level up moves, it can learn Tackle, Growl, Leafage, Astonish, Peck, Shadow Sneak, Razor Leaf, Synthesis, Pluck, Nasty Plot, Sucker Punch, Leaf Blade, Feather Dance, and Brave Bird. It evolves into Dartrix at Level 17, and at Level 34, it will evolve into Decidueye, and it becomes a Grass/Ghost-type when fully evolved, which I found to be strange, that was something I didn't see coming when speculating the Starter Pokémon's types when fully evolved, because with Rowlet and Dartrix being Grass/Flying-type, and Decidueye being Grass/Ghost, that threw things off. Deciudeye learns Spirit Shackle upon evolution, and it is the only Pokémon to learn that move, while the other Alola Starters signature moves can be learned by other Pokémon. For moves it can learn as Decidueye, it can learn Phantom Force, U-turn, Leaf Storm, and Spite.
For TMs and TRs, I will be going over what Decidueye can learn, because there are some moves it can't learn as Rowlet or as Dartrix. For TMs, Decidueye can learn Solar Beam, Solar Blade, Light Screen, Safeguard, Giga Drain, Steel Wing, Imprison, Shadow Claw, Psycho Cut, Low Sweep, Hex, Acrobatics, False Swipe, and Air Slash, and for TRs, it can learn Swords Dance, Baton Pass, Shadow Ball, Seed Bomb, Energy Ball, Grass Knot, Work Up, and Hurricane. The Rowlet can learn Grass Pledge, as it is a Grass-type Starter Pokémon, Decidueye can learn Frenzy Plant as it is a fully evolved Grass-type Starter Pokémon, and it leans a lot of Isle of Armor Tutor moves, like Grassy Glide, Poltergeist, Dual Wingbeat, and Skitter Smack.
Being a Generation 7 Pokémon is really rough, as that introduced a lot of Pokémon that were really slow, and Decidueye has base 70 Speed, making it the fastest fully evolved Alola Starter, if all forms count, the fastest is Torracat as base 90, Incineroar has base 60 Speed. As for stats, Decidueye's best stat is Attack, and it has a good Special Attack stat to make it a good Mixed Attacker, but for online battles, it can be very difficult to work with a Mixed Attacker, Decidueye can use Swords Dance to boost the power of its Physical moves like Leaf Blade, Spirit Shackle, and Brave Bird, and it can work with Long Reach so that it doesn't get affected by certain affects when making contact, like the Rocky Helmet, where Decidueye will not take damage if it uses a contact move against a Pokémon holding the Rocky Helmet. For Special Attacks, Decidueye can use Nasty Plot and pair it with Leaf Storm, Shadow Ball, and Hurricane, the preferred Ability for that is Overgrow.
In Double Battles, Decidueye doesn't see too much use, likely because it is outclassed by better Pokémon, while access to Sucker Punch and Shadow Sneak is nice for priority, and being a decent Dynamax user with Max Airstream from Brave Bird, other Pokémon tend to be better at that.
Decidueye is a rare case for me, while it is one of my favourite Pokémon from Gen 7, it is my favourite Starter Pokémon in Gen 7, I don't tend to like the Grass-type Starter Pokémon that much, because normally the Water-type Starter Pokémon are my favourite, and the Grass-type Starter Pokémon tend to be my least favourite, but with Gen 7, it is the generation where the Grass-type Starter Pokémon is my favourite out of the three, and Gen 7 did have really good Starter Pokémon in terms of typing and competitive viability, Incineroar being good in Double Battles, Primarina had a solid type combination, while Decidueye wasn't the best, it was at least decent.
