QEMU A Far Cry (2004) (EAX) from "脑残PC“em-U-la-tion \*BS\*
"Behold for one's fear for being damned to speak so DARK a prophecy... 🤣"
The Beginners naively interpret every instructions.
The Enlightens bring forth dynamic re-compilers.
The Wise Virtualize.
The FOOLS' pretense "Not in the scope" -- the **Accuracy \*BS\*** in H.A.R.M.
CryTek CryEngine-powered Far Cry (2004), was, exactly as the name in prefix, an absolute machine-killer that make PC gamers Cry. At time of debut in 2004, even the absolute highest-end PCs could barely play the game. It would take a couple years for advanced GPUs to keep up with the game engine and faster CPUs to be able to feed the GPUs. In 2005, Intel & AMD brought dual-core desktop-class CPUs to the mass, Pentium D and Athlon64 X2, and the later became an all-time sold-out best CPU for PC gamers with high-end Direct3D9-class GPUs such as GeForce 6800 and Radeon X800.
Fast forward to modern days, QEMU featuring qemu-3dfx brings Windows XP VMs that match or out-class any 2004/2005 period-correct 500W gaming PCs on 20W thin-and-light modern laptops. An end-of-year year-in-review in REAL Game Benchmark showdown of CPU virtualization and GPU acceleration with an unmatched performance & efficiency that is a far cry from whatever "Trash"Boxes or "JUNK_PC"em **Accuracy \*BS\***. More so in the emulation \*BS\* of Ensoniq AudioPCI or SoundBlaster 128 PCI that supports EAX/A3D. How on earth would such a FOOL believe in PC emulators that choke at 300MHz CPU emulation could ever deliver good experience in EAX or A3D audio for any PC games. It does not even have to be Far Cry (2004) to make the FOOLS CRY for games being so SLOW, inputs lagged and audio/music cracked when playing them in whatever "Trash"Boxes or "JUNK_PC"em. Just build the genuine retro PC boxes, a.k.a. "real men play on real PCs". Wow, that's Awesome, have FUNs with the builds.
The year-in-review marked the milestone of Windows SMP in retro gaming which for Windows XP guests is only possible with Linux KVM. Though the benefits of SMP remains questionable for games, the VMs enjoy more headroom in task scheduling which is inherently a good thing for audio processing that solely depends on CPU as in DSOAL/OpenAL-Soft for EAX.
It is clear that, for Windows games, "brute-force" emulation is indeed a fool's errand. QEMU featuring qemu-3dfx is a testament to such belief and delivers the BEST & HIGHEST quality solution specifically addressing the issues of 1996~2005 Windows games "donut hole" on modern machines.
Thank YOU for those who supported qemu-3dfx and Game Preservation. As for those on "the other camp", best of luck and lots of patience for "PC"em-U-la-tion that achieves Direct3D9 level graphics in games. (WARP may render Far Cry 15-FPS@800x600 on Core i9🤣..)
