Quake is a game I'd never played before in my life. Id played Heretic and Descent on he PC as well as Doom 1 and 2 of course, but by the time this came along I was more interested in the PS1. This was my first and probably last try of this game. On the 060 it seemed to run slower for some reason, most like due to emulation or 060 library issues perhaps.
Quake was meant to be the first game of the new series, to kick off the 3D SEUs. But instead I figured this game would raise the bar too highly at the start, and make all the following Amiga games look bad. It has impressive graphics and sounds, but for game play I didnt find it as addictive and fun as the first two Doom games.
Recording this was after many months of trying to get Wipeout to work, as the first game in the series, so I never planned to review this, and it was purely by the request of the top supporter of the Amiga: Quantum Leap series, Seppo Seppala from Finland - who also recently get his Amiga: Quantum Leap T-Shirt from that kickstarter project. Thank you again to all those to funded 16 months of sheer dedication. There are two more funding request shows to release at some point: Benefactor, and Vektor Storm.
I am playing was new ways to record the voiceover, and so you may find this is much louder in the mix than usual, and also on my C64 reviews. I'll see how it goes, but I dont want to shout these games down, or talk over them - I just hope I'm a bit clearer to hear.
