XP8 (OCS) (Amiga) - A Playguide and Review - by LemonAmiga.com
There are always comments that the Amiga never had any great Shoot Em Ups, but this game has smooth controls, slick colour cycling graphics, and powerful weapons which can cut through the enemies. What could be better??

Ok, so I never even heard of this back in the day, or maybe now I seem to think about it, I certainly must have read the magazine review in that issue of CU Amiga. Not sure if I ever played it before in emulation, but I know for sure I never gave the game a proper try until this review. The game is not hard to learn, in fact it seems to get easier the more you go along, and I'm sure I could have used the passcodes and completed it. But the game feels rather samey after a while, and that means it gets overlong and frankly boring. But I must say, the green spiral plasma weapon makes the game very fun, and makes it rather addictive at first. I went to bed dreaming about this game, and like Apano Sin, feeling how great the Amiga scene was. Certainly not a disappointment like Project X, and more playable than Wings of Death. The 2 player mode was also rather fun, and makes good use of a 2-button controller (which I didnt use). With even better weapons later on, I'd give this a 7 as quite impressive.
Hopefully we will return to some calmer territory next week, and away from all this fighting shooting action!
