Benefactor is an Amiga exclusive Psygnosis platformer with lots of charm, and a lot of levels, made by the makers of the Pinball Simulator games. Lets take a look at the first few levels and see if we can figure this one out.

Benefactor is a huge game, and back in the day I perhaps made it to the tree top levels and no further. The puzzles and traps remain largely the same throughout the game, so it not too unfamiliar with each new world. But for the Lemon/EAB Super Compo, I thought it would be best to try the Stones and Bones castle levels to separate the players scores. A few people got the maximum score, but the rest of us only managed a fraction of that, due to the 'one correct route' element of the game, which leads to some 'no way out' situations, especially in these mid-levels. The Snow world isnt so hard after that, and Ive never seen the Techno levels or the final two levels in Hell.

I originally wanted to show the castle levels in the guide, the less of the ones from the first world. But I figured the Ms Mad Lemon Benefactor video showed those levels much better than I could, and I'd definitely recommend viewers check out that vid, perhaps after this.

But if you remember this game, or have fond memories, do leave a comment, as I love to read them.

Bugs:
In the video, I made a number of ad-lib mistakes, as dont forget I just make this up as I go along, and its uncut. I keep saying The First Level when actually I mean the first World. I also say "this game is not about The time limit" when of course this game has no time limit, and what I meant to say was "a time limit". The editing doesnt usually involve inserting or changing anything, but in this vid I had to change a reference to the door keys from "There is always one key on every level" to "There is 'at least' one key one every level" for it to make sense. The magazine images have a timing issue because I didnt want the main character to run behind them, so they go off pretty quick. I also noticed the boxed image for the game, and the image of the CD32 disc, would have made more sense if I had swapped those around - but I wanted to show the merch in release date order.

A Sensible Massacre:
I had a comment (which I have deleted) on my previous vid, XP8, that my voice was boring and fake, so for this one I tried to be a bit more relaxed. Honestly, I cant help the sound of my voice now that I've trained it to sound more like clear English, although I do send it up a bit at times, and the rest of the time I just try to speak/talk/present clearly. The channel has gone from being my humble thoughts and tips on games, to something which I hope represents the Amiga games industry/Lemon web site, and in a sensible way, with the odd gag perhaps. But if people dont like the 'posh sounding' syllables (clear English) in my voice, I would prefer they didnt leave comments. I find it upsetting to ready this stuff after sometimes a weeks worth of editing. The channel definitely had its day a few years ago, and I'm happy to let other youtubers take on the views and the comments, but its easy to kick a channel on the way down, and I hope my 200-300 regular viewers watch these mainly for the games. To those people who watched Lemon's exclusive worlds first video review to the game XP8, thanks again for watching. Hopefully my voice seems more relaxed in this one.
