I have played all the Quake games and finished them and was very happy to play this game the first time.
If you followed the progres of the game you would know that they said it will be f2p, caught people's interest and posted so much good stuff about the game. When the game was finally out is what pay to play, you had to pay to play an early acces arena shooter. That's so bad...lost player base in that moment. They made it f2p after some time...lost player base again. And being free to play it only had limited game modes, limited matchmaking and was very limited in general. You couldn't even select what game mode to play, i was tossed in Instagib mode and just quit the game.
I did play the game for a decent amount of time but it will give you motion sickess after a few hours so you always have to take a lot of breaks.
The curent version of the game is a huge improvement from what it was at launch but it still has the same problems.
Pro:
great for fans of the quake 3 arena game, very fast gameplay, all weapons are from the game, short rounds to play for 10-20 minutes, f2p, good for playing with friends, variety of game modes and maps
Cons:
too fast, it can induce motion sickness, everyone feels like paper because they jump, run and dodge around like they have no weight, even the rocket launcher seems to have no impact, feels like a Transformers movie, the character are not cool, some abilities are locked behind locked characters, the weapons feel like they don't do enough damage unless used with character abilities, you don't like the characters you are playing as
Overall: the game needs to slow down, characters need to have weight, weapons need to have impact and better medium/long range. Some people may like it as it is and i respect that but the game needs better matchmaking and a rebalance of the weapons/pick ups system at least.
