Quest Update Causing Issues! New Features, Accessibility & VRChat Store & More!
977This week in VR has been full of updates, improvements, and a few hiccups, so let’s dive right in.
Meta continues to tweak its HorizonOS interface, with the new Navigator UI confirmed to be optional at first. Some users on Quest 3S will also notice action button customisation features appearing. Meanwhile, Quest v77 is showing up in a hanging update state for some users, and others have noticed issues with 2D app rendering and UI glitches. There's also a welcome new accessibility feature: a screen reader and text-to-speech option on Quest devices.
However, not all is going smoothly. Developers are raising concerns over Quest software becoming less stable with recent updates, reporting performance regressions and growing instability.
On the glasses front, Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses now offer more advanced AI capabilities, helping blind and low-vision users understand their surroundings through descriptive responses.
Elsewhere, Beat Saber is celebrating its 7th anniversary with a free new track, and VRChat is stepping further into fashion with its brand-new avatar marketplace. Lastly, Play for Dream is getting official support for Virtual Desktop, making another standalone headset even more capable.
