Retro Revival, Part #18 - Heroes of Might & Magic 4 Complete (2011, GOG.COM)
The fourth game in New World Computing's long-running strategy/RPG series is definitely the worst, but since it *is* a HOMM game after all it can still be addictive and fun regardless. The developers upset fans a lot by making several ill-advised changes to the well-established gameplay mechanics, and also ditching the gorgeous 2D art of the previous games in favor of some really ugly pre-rendered sprites and a weird new isometric camera angle.
Despite the fact that it pales in comparison to the three amazing classics which preceeded it, for some reason it's nice to see HOMM4 on GOG and finally have the game available as a digital download. Also, this version is the "Complete" one which includes a bunch of expansions I never played. I can't imagine any of them being of the same caliber as, say, Armageddon's Blade...but it's nice to get everything in a single easily downloadable package.
