(かえってきた MARIO BROS., Kaettekita Mario Bros.)_ (game region: Japan) – also spelled _帰ってきたマリオブラザーズ_ on the game box – for the Nintendo Family Computer Disk System (abbreviated to FDS), commonly known as the Famicom Disk System, an add-on for the Nintendo Family Computer (FC) or Famicom, the Japanese equivalent of the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).

*– GAME OVERVIEW –*

_Return of Mario Bros._ for the Famicom Disk System is a 2D fixed-screen platformer. It was developed by Nintendo Research & Development No. 4 (Nintendo R&D4) with Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo with Nagatanien. The game was released in Japan on November 30, 1988, via the Famicom Disk Writer service and never made it to retail stores.

Apart from the port of _Wrecking Crew_ (1989), this is the last _Mario_ title for the Famicom Disk System.

• _Return of Mario Bros._ is an updated version of the Famicom or NES _Mario Bros._ (1983) with improved graphics, music and gameplay, and the ability to save high scores.
◦ A 1993 European-only release for the Nintendo Entertainment System – _Mario Bros. (Classic Series)_ – uses the same colors and enemy sprites as the update.

• Both game modes in _Return of Mario Bros._ – Classic Mario Bros. and Nagatanien World – have (one of three) in-game advertisements for Nagatanien's food products that appear before the first phase – [as seen at 02:22, 17:34 and 33:23].
◦ In Nagatanien World, after receiving a Game Over, players are given the chance to win lives in a slot machine minigame – [at 32:33].

• As explained by the Shellcreeper in the "News" option – [at 01:28] – _Return of Mario Bros._ had a special giveaway: earning 100,000 or 200,000 points in Nagatanien World will display a code that could be sent in by postcard. The former score awarded a _Super Mario Bros. 3_ trading card, while the latter entered the player into a drawing to win a copy of _Super Mario Bros. 3._
