Another game that left me on a bit of a sour note. Not for the end boss. Nah, he was fine. Generic bullet sponge, but fine. I was frustrated by the level before it and the paratroopers that would do all kinds of damage to you even if you shot them first. A severe lack of damage mitigation in this game. And that's not a good thing.

I think this game has a lot of wasted potential. The "Wolfenstein" elements don't really seem to be very Wolfenstein. Sure, it had the robotic super soldiers, and that tracked. The other mutant creature did not. It had secrets and treasures, but it didn't do anything with them. They existed because they were in the other game, but that's it. The other game at least gave you extra lives, which would refill your health and I think ammo when you got them. This? They are there to collect and that's it. And I find that disappointing. At least one of my complaints was wrong though, the game DOES have autosaves for every level - not in order, sadly, but they're there so you can go back and replay any of them any time you want. And that's a positive.

This is a game of it's era. And I don't like it's era. That unfortunately put it on the wrong foot with me from the beginning. But as critical as I am of the game.. it's probably one of the better examples of its era. Sure it's rough, has some bad choices all over it, but there were some good spots. The enemy AI was a highlight for me, the way they'd hide, including behind doors. It wasn't perfect, but it was good to see.
