59Risky Woods is a cult classic with a large number of fans, to others its a tricky and unfair game with enemies which must be shot before you even see them! I put the game though its paces to see if C.U Amiga's 90% score was really worth it.

Yes this is the game I ended up working on over the x-mas period, along with the last minute attempt to make an A-Z of Computer Game Retro Jargon (which was completed x-mas eve). Apart from the usual (endless) audio volume balancing issues where my words simply melt into the background, there were a fair few small redubs and a large number of bugs to sort out. The music in the 3rd world was added to with a rip of the game music (thanks Stone Oakvalley Amiga Music Archive) layered over the actual in-game music and SFX. As a result, some of the music in world 3 sounds a bit echo-y.
The comparison zone was supposed to include Leander and Stormlord, but I couldnt find the number of colours for those games listed on the internet, so I went with Superfrog and Ruff n Tumble to show other 32 colour games. Several last moment captions were added and green arrows to point things out. I also added the % values of the reviews scores in this case to show a huge difference between the 60% scores and the 80/90% scores.
I could have completed the game and yet on the day I recorded this I failed. Some reviewers only show their very best runs but what you get with me is what happened on the day, with generally no retries or savestates to practice with. At least you can see my 1 Million score on the high score table.
