Welcome to another great sneak peek on an awesome Pioneer LaserActive title. This one is an anime/racing game titled Road Prosecutor.

To make a long story short, in the near future, the BLACK CROWS are a gang of ruthless murderers led by their boss Suzie. They were unstoppable by the local police force so a special team was made to fight against them, the SMP team. The SMP team leader John Ohara was targeted by the ruthless gang, and was attacked on the road on the day of his wedding.

The car crashes to the side of the road ejecting John into the air just before exploding and killing his wife. John vows for revenge, and seeks to kill all the people in the BLACK CROWS gang, and their ruthless leader Suzie.

This is the arcade port of Road Blaster aka Road Avenger on Sega CD.

This game is made by DATA EAST in 1984, and was Reprogrammed and Distributed by Pioneer in 1994.

The graphics in the game are typical for whats found in Anime games where you must choose a direction in the correct time. You get arrows on screen telling you where to go and brake appears when you need to hit brake etc.. Pretty simple overlay graphics, but the overall action in the game is what keeps you hooked!

The music is, for the most part, pretty good. It has been changed from the music that was on the Sega CD version, but I enjoy the music in the game. It still fits each scene nicely and just sounds awesome. I do however like the intro and outtro music on the Sega CD version better.

The sound effects are pretty good for this version of the game, with really nice sounding engine roars for turbo, and great sounding brakes as well.

The control is basically like any other anime game. You point where you need to go and hit the right buttons in the correct amount of time or you die. Simple huh?

Oh there is ONE thing about this game that does bother me a bit compared to the Sega CD version. The Sega CD version had continues, and this version does not! Instead you have a health bar that you play tug of war with. For each time you die it takes away a decent chunk of health from the bar. For each correct move it adds a tiny bit to the bar. When the bar is all red, the game is over.

Bottom line: If you own a LaserActive and SegaCD PAC then you need to get this game. It is one of the best games on the system, is a ton of fun to play and is challenging with its mirror image routes and its mixture of slamming on the brakes and turning at the same time which is strangely not found on the Sega CD version.

This disc is in 480i, and features RSS Surround sound.
