Robin Hood's Quest (PS2) - co-op speedrun to fastest softlock
11This is a random game we tried out with Kazooie some time ago. Just for fun we did a co-op speedrun of it to the fastest softlock! The run takes 29 seconds, starting from new game and ending at the point of softlock.
(Well, P2 doesn't actually need to give input at any point during the run. But since the game was played on Two Players-mode and Kazooie was holding the other controller, it counts as a co-op speedrun, right?)
First of all, it seems that if your language is anything other than English, the loading screen before gameplay begins has music in it and lasts much longer than normal. Hence, English is the fastest language.
Once gameplay begins, all you have to do to create the softlock is to open Pause-menu, put cursor on "Save" and press Pause and triangle simultaneously. Ostensibly, the menu doesn't close properly this way and the player never retains control. And once the player has lost control, not even taking controller out and replacing it fixes things, so resetting console seems necessary to continue playing.
The glitch requires strict timing or might even be lag-related. In any case, it doesn't seem to happen with 100% consistently.
