Seijin Plays FFT 1.3034 Easytype, Part 46 : Inside of Limberry Castle
Elmdor. Normally very difficult, but rather simple with the Meatbone Slash strategy. Now, to be fair, I never thought about this strategy until I saw a video of it last year. Just have your characters equipped with Meatbone Slash (counter with damage equal to your max HP when your health goes to critical), and equip your characters with equipment in such a way that they will all fall into critical after Elmdor uses Chirijiraden. And enjoy the carnage.
The thing is, Elmdor has great, unique equipment. The Genji equipment. You want to steal these items from him. Unfortunately, surviving against him and the two assassins with him is very, *very* difficult. Personally, I could not bother myself to do it.
HOWEVER, I bothered to steal one item. How? I simply gave Ramza very high speed so that he moves first, giving him Teleport so he can reach Elmdor at all, hope for the steal to work (15% on the hat, which is the item I decided to steal), and reset if it failed. It took me a lot of tries, since it's luck based, but here is the successful attempt at it. I come out of this battle with the Genji Helmet, while still winning the battle quickly.
I also show each of Elmdor's item description so you can see all their effects and stat bonuses. With Teleport having a success rate of 70% and the actual steal having a success rate of 15%, there were a ton of resets. Also, I had to test how to win after the initial steal. Let me explain. Ramza moves first, but Elmdor moves second. He can OHKO Ramza when he gets his turn, and he will. Which means he won't use Chirijiraden on the rest of my party until he gets another turn. This is where I had to test what happens between Elmdor's first turn and his second.
The two assassins will throw stuff or use status debuffs at my other characters. This is why I have some of my characters capable to heal each other from negative statuses. With thorough testing, it ended up replicating the same thing again and again, where my characters end up with full HP and no negative status on themselves when Elmdor gets his turn and commits suicide. So it all works out. The only issue was Stop, because I didn't have five Jade Armlets(?) to have stop immunity (my fault for not buying extras, really), so there's a bit of luck involved for that as well. And of course, the Meatbone Slashes have to trigger (need two out of four to win).
