Seijin Plays FFT 1.3034 Easytype, Part 41 : North Wall of Bethla Garrison (Fail)
I kind of enjoy the first part of Bethla Garrison because you can pick one of two maps (South Wall and North Wall). So if one is problematic, you can always try the other, right? But they are both problematic.
The North Wall (this map) has the player face six Marksmen (the same class as Algus). Hey, they all use bows, so you'd think that just slapping Arrow Guard on everyone would make the battle easy, right? Sure, it's a very good initiative to take, but it doesn't suddenly make the battle easy at all.
They have a lot more than bows to mess you up. They use a plethora of status infliction (Don't Act, Sleep) and other indirect attacks (breaking equipment). They are also very very difficult to kill because they have extremely good sandbag capabilities.
Honestly, this was my first attempt at this battle, after testing it out to see what they could do. I went with a fully defensive setup, thinking I would be able to outlast them. Arrow Guard, Defense UP and Move-HP UP on everyone, with everyone being on a class that can use heavy armor for high HP : one knight, two lancers, two samurai. Ramza can do decent damage with the knight sword, the lancers can jump or attack for good damage, and the samurai are AoE powerhouses.
So even though my setup is more of a defensive one, I could probably outlast them easily. At least, that is what I thought initially. I didn't yet know how annoying their status infliction and sandbag would be, and it just didn't work out in the end. My setup was probably too defensive, and while I could cure statuses to some degree, it was too much for me to handle. Their status infliction is killer. "Don't Act" prevents all evasion or reaction abilities, by the way.
At the end, I just gave up because I had no way to prevent the inevitable.
