Did I mention this game is easy? Yeah, Mario RPG is a good beginner's game, and the first time I played it, I was a beginner. And I died. A lot. But that's obviously no longer the case, as here in this final session, I pretty much blaze through to the end. The only opponents who stood a chance at defeating me were those two clowns with the snake, and that's only because I spent time whittling down their HP to see what happens if I killed them both at the same time (normally, the survivor joins with the snake, and that alters the snake fight).

Gotta say, I appreciate Mario RPG's hidden items a lot more this playthrough. Normally I don't worry much about my equipment, because, like I said, this game is easy. I don't need to. But for the chance to annihalate my opponents, I picked out the best items I could get (freaking 30 jumps!). As I've shown before, the Star Egg is definately useful. The Safety Ring's ability to nullify certain elemental spells is awesome, and there's even a couple accessories that cut elemental damage in half.

I've also found a lot more appreciation of my special abilities in this playthrough. Peach's bombs, especially. Never used them that much, before. My typical playthrough, my only strategy is to use physical attacks, and Group Hug when necessary. That strategy works in this game, of course, but I definately found a certain enjoyment taking advantage of all my skills in this playthrough. Except Bowser Crush. It's a giant mechakoopa stomping across the field, how does it not cause that much damage???

Also, love the Smithy fight. Sure, it doesn't provide much challenge for me, anymore. But it's probably the most interesting boss fight in an RPG that I've ever experienced. The reason being variety. Smithy has four forms that he randomly switches between, each form with its own assortment of attacks. I've seen final bosses before where they have very few attacks at their disposal. Heck, the final boss of Final Fantasy 4, as awesome as the scenario is, he tends to focus on using just the same attack over and over again.

And finally, the ending is satisfactory. This was around a time where I started becoming more interested in the music of video games, so the first time I beat the game, the music was music to my ears. Er.... or something. And it's still a nice way to end the game.

I probably won't touch Mario RPG again for a while. While it is fun to play, the fact that I used to play it so much is why I find the game so easy in the first place. So it's nice to take some extended breaks from the game.

...Why does the fireworks scene remind me of Disney World?
