Session 2: Super Bubble Bobble (Bubble Bobble)
0Back in the day, it wasn't too uncommon for a game to give you the option to replay through on a harder difficulty. Super Mario Bros. did it, and so did Ghosts & Goblins. In this case, almost all the enemies are swapped around. So you'll like see those fire-spitting guys in place of those box-shaped guys, and whales are swapped with starfish. Also, the texture of the levels is changed.
You're probably wonder why I opt to use 2-player mode when I'm playing by myself. Aside from the requirement of having a second player when you beat the final boss. As it turns out, player 2 makes a good decoy. Some enemies are programmed to go after the second player if it exists. In levels like 61, that's pretty helpful, as you can lure enemies away from tricky spots. Though it's not always recommended, as you can see from level 82.
Despite the upped difficulty, my time to get through this game isn't too much longer than last time.
By the way, I also have Bubble Bobble Plus for the Wii, and it includes a bunch more levels (or were they DLC... can't remember). Eventually I'll longplay that, as well, but for now, I'm done with Bubble Bobble. Even though you have to listen to the same song the entire game, this is definately fun to play through and I'm sure I'll play it again someday. It'd be even more fun with an actual second player, but I don't think I'll ever have that opportunity again. Unless I use an emulator and play with someone across the net.
