Session 4: Sunken Treasure (Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars)
0So, not only do we fight alongside Bowser, but we fight alongside Princess Toadstool, as well. If we had Luigi with us, this would be Super Paper Mario. Good thing this isn't Super Paper Mario.
I'm gonna say it now: Toadstool is broken. She starts off with two healing spells. One heals a single character, the other heals the whole party. Both spells heal status effects. I'm trying to get a challenge out of this game, and it's taking all my willpower not to abuse these spells.
Speaking of status effects, Jonathan Jones actually has a weakness: poison. Generally poison only does 10% damage of current HP, but when it's a boss that gets poisoned, 10% amounts to quite a bit. I'm also sure that the tentacles are weak against fear, but I forgot to switch party members before that fight.
And at the end, I decide to challenge Yaridovich without a dedicated healer. Do I succeed? Watch and see.
By the way, while you have the option of seeing Frogfucious at any point of the game to find out your next objective, this is the one and only time where it's required. Any other time, you can't really get lost 'cause all that you're exploring is a point-and-click map.
Also, this sunken ship is probably the longest level in the game. And it's chock-full of treasure. I'm making a goal in this playthrough to never max out my inventory, and never max out my coins. Both are very, very easy to do in this game. Unfortunately, I fail with the coins. The max is 999, and the ship, believe it or not, has more than that on its own! I'm sure at least 100 coins went to waste in this video.
Finally, I am REALLY good at Beetle Mania. But I've never figured out what those hearts do. Reduce the amount of button taps you need to revive yourself, maybe? I don't know.
...And, apparently you cannot get a reward for getting a new record for the minecart game if you don't pay for it.
