Session 1: Bubble Bobble (Bubble Bobble)
0Bubble Bobble was one of the few games that I was able to enjoy with my mom. Nowadays, I don't have that privelege, being grown up and living on my own and all that, but I still enjoy the game on my own. Over the years, I've gotten pretty good at the game, with "kissing" being one of my better skills. I'm also able to beat level 57 without help!
I really enjoy a lot of the power-ups. The long-range and fast bubbles are nice, but what's really awesome are the power-ups that instantly kill all the on-screen enemies, my favorite being the one that floods the cave. Two of the power-ups, though, I always avoid. One is the shoe. Grabbing the shoe ensures I won't be able to control my character. I've gotten the shoe in other versions of this game, and it's more controllable in them, but in this one, it speeds up both your run and jumps, making jumping way more difficult than it should be. The other item I avoid is the umbrella, which warps you ahead a random amount of levels. I prefer to play through every stage in the game.
One interesting thing about this game is that there are multiple endings. Only one of them is good. Normally the game sends you to the final boss after level 99. That results in a bad ending. You have to get the crystal to make a secret door appear, and reach the door before it disappears in order to access the secret levels. Then, when you reach the final boss again, you have to win the game with two players onscreen. Which is dumb. Not everyone is gonna have a friend playing along. So what I do is beat the boss with at least 1 extra life, then use the revive code (pause, then hit select) to bring out player 2 right before I kill the boss. There's the good ending. But wait, there's another password after the credits. I wonder what it is for.......
Also, stage 43 is stupid.
