Session 8: Mightily Murdered Axem Rangers (Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars)
1Normally, I don't use the Star Egg. It only causes 100 damage to all enemies, and Geno can cause more than that with his spells, and everyone else can cause more than 100 damage when hitting a single enemy. But for this playthrough, I decided to give it a fair shot, and my gosh, this thing is a lot more useful than I expected. Man, it's no wonder the Star Egg is so hard to find.
Anyway, this is the point where I decide that this won't be a 100% run. The biggest reason being that I simply cannot time the Super Jumps good enough. I'm stuck at 13. Along with that, I completely forgot to grab Peach's best weapon before heading into Bowser's castle (where I also squandered my chance to get Mallow's best weapon). I know I can head back to get her weapon upon beating the castle, but the entrance to the final dungeon is so epic, I don't like to ruin it by hopping straight back onto the world map. (You're thrown right into the final dungeon after beating the castle.)
A few other minor things I'm missing. I didn't max out my Fireworks supply, but that's okay, because at least the display during the ending will still be decent. I also didn't hatch the Mystery Egg. Hatching it turns it into a sheep that turns an enemy into a sheep. Using that so many times turns it into a sheep that turns all enemies into sheep. I can still get this item, but I'm so close to the end of the game now, it's pointless.
Worst of all, I haven't finished feeding the baby Yoshi. I was really hoping to find out what purpose that held. I know at some point, the baby would become super fat, which is why I keep going back there. But how I trigger the fatness, and what that does for me, I have no idea. Bah.
Two things remain consistant in all my playthroughs of this game: Bowser Crush is weak and pathetic, and the Magikoopa is a complete pushover.
Also, gotta say, the Axem Rangers' "transformation" is a far cry from the giant robot teams that they're spoofing. Oh, and sorry that the fight wasn't exciting. And to think, I used to dread fighting those guys. =P Come to think of it, how did I ever lose against Breaker Beam? It gives me plenty of time to get two group hugs in.
