After Sonic's crushing defeat against Eggman's new ally, he has been taken prisoner in the Death Egg while Eggman takes over the world. The Avatar, known as the Rookie, who had joined the Resistance, has entered the Death Egg in an attempt to rescue Sonic, but along the way, Sonic encounters Zavok, the leader of the Deadly Six and was part of the group that took down Sonic.

We enter the Death Egg, and starting things off is Prison Hall as the Rookie, and the main quest is to rescue Sonic, the area is based on the Death Egg Zone from Sonic & Knuckles. Throughout the course, there are some cells with some prisoners locked up in, some of which likely refusing against Eggman. When we get nearer to the end, we find out the location is going through high alert, and Espio sensing Sonic's proximity, and that he is getting closer.
The next course is a boss fight, and this time we are playing as Sonic, and the boss fight is against Zavok, the leader of the Deadly Six, and was part of the group that took down Sonic back in the city. In the boss fight, Zavok is riding the Death Queen, and he summons a bunch of Buzz Bombers, which you have to defeat, the fire lasers, and then summon more Buzz Bombers, and then have the Death Queen smash into the arena, and this one I found to be really tricky at first, it turns out you mustn't jump, because when the Death Queen crashes down, it launches Sonic up into the air, and you have to use a Homing Attack on Zavok enough times to damage him, and repeat this till Zavok's health is down half.
The second phase, Zavok will have the Death Queen charge at Sonic, and then repeat the Homing Attack again until Zavok is down, and once he is down, time to move onto the next course, and it is time for Sonic to escape.
Next course is Egg Gate, and this is where Sonic makes his escape from the Death Egg, this course has those crushers, where if you are crushed, you are defeated instantly, and there are some grind rails, which we did see in the Chemical Plant with the Rookie, and after getting through the course's ceilings and grind rails, and Sonic attempts to board one of the Eggman Fleet ships, and then make it to the end, where he finds the Rookie, and he is welcomed back by Knuckles and the other members of the Resistance, and he learns about Dr. Eggman's weapons factory at Green Hill, and requests for Sonic to take the Rookie with him to destroy the weapons factory.
