The blue hedgehog named Sonic will never stop running here in SEGA Corporation's mobile game called Sonic Runners. What you must do here is to guide Sonic and try to stay alive on the platforms for as long as you can. Collect rings to get bigger points. Try to avoid the monsters and traps or else Sonic's rings will go back to zero. If you fall off from the platform or hit a wall, the stage will fail instantly. Once you reach the needed score, the next map will be unlocked. You can also unlock other cast the series like Knuckles or Tails.

Overview

Sonic Runners is a fast and fun filled endless runner, featuring Sonic the hedgehog, you can run, jump and spin across the levels in this platform based side scrolling runner, you'll be controlling Sonic as you soar through the levels at the speed of sound...perhaps even beyond, as always, you'll be collecting rings along the way and face off with Sonic's arch enemies, there are also other characters available in the game besides Sonic, like Tails and Knuckles, they are quite agile actually as they also have their own abilities just like Sonic...but not as fast, they are locked though and you'll need to unlock them before they can be used as a playable character, you can also master the color powers to grow stronger and run with a buddy, indeed, you'll be well prepared when Dr. Eggman suddenly appears out of nowhere and attempts to disrupt your advances, powerups are also abundant in the game, they are scattered all over the levels, try not to miss to many and activate them almost simultaneously for a more fun and exciting run, so come on and join the fun, play the game and show who's the fastest runner of all time here in Sonic Runners.

Graphics and Sound

Sonic Runners has beautiful graphics, character designs are awesome as ever, the game looks very much like the old Sonic games that we loved and enjoy, although it looks rather flat, it still managed to look great...hmm, must be Sonic's appeal at work here, environments are certainly pretty, details are very high and it looks quite unique from one location to another, colors are lush, the game looks vivid and sharp, really nice and cool to look at, animations are also fluid, Sonic moves as smooth as ever and so are the other moving objects in the game, music and sounds are good, the soundtracks is quite nice really although nothing special...but it's not so bad either, sound effects are cooler though, the clinking and other sounds seem non stop, special effects are quite cool too, the special visuals associated with interactive objects look great, overall, the game looks quite pretty and certainly looks more polished than the earlier Sonic games.

Gameplay

Sonic Runners is your typical endless runner, well, it's not exactly endless as the game is leveled, but the key features of an endless runner is quite obvious in the game, you'll start your runs in a slow steady pace and then it will gradually speed up as you progress through the levels, the characters in the game automatically runs so you'll only be in control of the jumps and spins, the game is quite a challenge though as it tends to become too fast, good thing there are a lot of special powerups to help you extend your runs, the characters also have their own unique abilities, and they are quite useful too, I like Knuckles a lot, a bit slower but quite powerful as he can smash objects, controls are simple by the way, it only takes taps to play the game throughout.

Features

Sonic Runners features a frantic running adventure, it is 2D and side scrolling, there are different characters for you to use, each one of them unique and possessing their own abilities, there are a lot of collectibles in the game, like rings, gems, powerups and even some animals you need to save, and it has easy tap controls to make the game more fun.

Conclusion

Sonic Runners is quite fun really, the transition to mobile is not perfect though, you just can't help but compare it to the console Sonic games of the past...I feel there's something off here.
