Sorcerian [ PC Engine ] - Intro & Gameplay
Today we're continuing the work we started with yesterday, namely making simple videos with the intro and gameplay of various games.
This is Sorcerian
Sorcerian was developed by Nihon Falcom back in 1987 and is the fifth installment in the Dragon Slayer series ( Original title being Dragon Slayer V: Sorcerian ), a series that also contains the games Dragon Slayer I, Dragon Slayer II: Xanadu ( later ported and renamed as FaXanadu ), Dragon Slayer Jr: Romancia and Dragon Slayer IV: Drasle Family ( also known as Legacy of the Wizard ). I bet at least one of those games ring a bell for you.
Sorcerian is in my opinion, one of the top 10 charmiest games of all time. From the intro that makes it feel like someone is reading a story to me at night, to the incredibly good and cute music, and to the fantastic gameplay ( in my opinion of course ). However, this port developed by Victor Music Industries is in short, a massive letdown. Most of the music just isn't very remixed, and the intro ( although appropriate considering the loving text about being a long long time ago ) makes it seem like a weird combination of cave men era and medieval ages. I am also not a fan at all of the art style.
In short, you're better of playing the other Sorcerian game developed by Victor ( Interactive Software ) for the Dreamcast - Sorcerian: Disciples of Seven Star Sorcery.
