I love just the absolute ridiculousness of going up to your mom as an adult and saying “I want to meet aliens,” and then the even more insane ridiculousness of her mom calmly responding with “leave it to me” like a badass because she actually has the exact thing for that. I’m looking forward to Soya’s report on the best strategies for meeting aliens.

0:04 Soya often uses a variety of first-person pronouns. In this clip, she uses “Soya,” her nickname, which is different from her family name’s normal pronunciation of “Souya,” although she’ll often just pronounce that as “Soya” anyway. She changed her usual(-ish) first-person pronoun from “Ichika” to “Soya” so that people would call her Soya because it’s easier to egosearch. When talking to her mom, she uses “watashi,” which is a very standard choice that leans slightly formal and slightly feminine.
