What an out-of-this-world amazing situation, and her delivery with that delicious silky soft voice of hers is absurdly good, too. The up-front confession right off the bat, the slightly heavy parts like watching over you and being kind only to you, how concerned she sounds about your sleep schedule, the whole eye contact scene, even her cute gaffe, it’s all so perfect. And of course, this is only the first part of the stream, the whole rest of the situation is wonderful as well, plus the actual ear cleaning and such. Someone asked me if I could clip something from one of her mommy streams, and this isn’t quite the same thing, but I hope it can still help scratch that itch at least somewhat.

General: In addition to speaking in the third person when describing the situation and reading out what’s meant to be your internal monologue, Mary uses several different first-person pronouns in this clip, including her honorific title “sensei,” either alone or affixed to her name, and “watashi,” which is a very standard slightly feminine and slightly formal choice. Right at the end at 13:35, she also says “boku,” which is usually a first-person pronoun, but can also be used as a second-person pronoun like here. Someone in chat used it in the first person, so she may be in part responding to that, but that’s not actually that relevant since it would be appropriate here whether the other person used it or not. “Boku” leans somewhat masculine, casual, and juvenile, and so is usually used in the second person when speaking to younger boys.
2:17 The way she expresses “fail” here is literally “got red points.” To “get red points” on a test or something like that means to fail it.
3:49 The term she uses here for skipping school (“sabotta,” root form “saboru”) is most often used for skipping school or class, but can also be used for slacking off in other contexts, and is derived from the word “sabotage,” specifically in the context of industrial sabotage by organized labor.
11:08 “Goron” is a sound effect for lying down or turning over in a lying position and is derived from the sound of an object rolling. You may recognize it as the name of a species in Zelda known for rolling.
