Splatoon 2: Knowing when to push in League Clam Blitz [16(9)-2, Custom Hydra Splatling]
Double Hyrda Splatlings, you know it. I think my skills with the weapon are improving, but I still have a lot to learn, like not rushing forwards and completely negating the range advantage. Still, let's go again. We're on the defensive pretty early, maybe because of some silly splatting, so I hold back and try to work out the charge time of the Hydra Splatling, as my squidmates splat the yellow team away. With the attack negated, I push forwards, taking much more care when approaching the corner, and pretty much simply holding the turf with my League partner for a bit.
Our Ink Mines do some good work as the yellow team move to strike again, but running out of ink causes me to fall back. I should probably pop Ink Armour to refill my tank quickly, but I'm still getting the hang of things. I move around the back to get some clams, which lets me then clamber on top of the fence, which is actually a good position to plant myself. It's difficult to get close to me if I'm shooting, so what I mostly have to watch out of is running out of ink. Again, why don't I pop my Ink Armour?! Never mind, at least I have the presence of mind to withdraw far enough away from the B-bomb aimed my way.
I continue to hold the turf well, the occasional Suction Bomb thrown my way falling short, until more clams appear below me. I grab them, making a power clam, and with the turf blue enough, and my squidmates moving forwards aggressively, with Specials being activated, it's time. I drop down, ink the way forwards, and (finally) activate my Ink Armour. Two power clams hit the basket simultaneously, followed by a clump of little clams, as the yellow team are splatted left and right. Our flurry of activity doesn't last too long, but we made our point.
Now we just need to defend for forty seconds. That should be pretty straightforward, particularly with two Hydra Splatlings on the case. Not even the Curling Bombs being sent our way cause us many problems, as our turf is pretty blue and we can cover up their trails quickly enough, so that they are purely probing, no inkling wanting to follow behind them. There is a touch of overtime, but it's perfunctory, the yellow team in no position to break through our defence now. All in all, a solid battle from our team. Woomy!
