Splatoon 2: Crucial push and stop in Rainmaker [13(5)-3, Grim Range Blaster]
It's sensible to hide from the Rainmaker's shield inksploding, if only I could lead the inkling with the Rainmaker a bit more. But never mind, the Rainmaker doesn't go far, and after mistaking a squidmate for a green inkling, I get a glancing blow on an actual opponent, and spot them diving off the bridge to come at me again. Not on my watch, mister. That charges some Tenta Missiles, and I press forwards as the green team deals with them, but not getting far. The Rainmaker is reset and grabbed by the green team, who go backwards with it this time, not that we take advantage of that, but we finally get the Rainmaker moving after it's dropped once more.
I lurk around the edges as our squidmate makes a nifty dash down the blind corridor, giving us a good lead, and I push up with a squidmate to apply pressure on both sides. The Rainmaker is dropped, though, and with lots of green ink around it. The Dualies dodge-roll their way out of my blasts, and the Dynamo Roller reappears behind me, so I decide it's best to duck out of there. My retreat puts me in a good position to intercept the Rainmaker, probably heading to our blind corridor, which is good, but I want to make sure our flank is safe before lurking in the lower turf.
Taking a look around lets the green team nab the Rainmaker again, but they don't get far, and our defensive method of splatting first and moving the Rainmaker second works well again. Even so, we could do better than just running away from any support, but this is to be expected outside of League battles. We hold the Rainmaker's position nicely too, and the green team find themselves all splatted, although the downside to that is them all returning at about the same time. It's quite a barrier to get through.
The Rainmaker stays where it is for a bit longer, but with Tenta Missiles flying out at a the long green inkling and the Rainmaker, I dash forwards and grab the Rainmaker to see how far I can get. Quite far, in fact, and in sight of the podium. I could have waited for support, but am hoping that the few extra steps I took will give us an advantage.
The green team grab the Rainmaker and push back. I try to hold the turf on the bridge and prevent support from reaching the Rainmaker, but all I get are glancing blows. Not even my Tenta Missiles do much except spur the Rainmaker on. Thankfully, a squidmate catches up to the Rainmaker just before the green team steals the lead. That extra step I took could prove vital after all, particularly with less than twenty seconds left in the battle. A squidmate grabs the Rainmaker and holds it as the clock ticks down, securing victory in a battle decided by two lunges. Woomy!
