Street Fighter Alpha 2 (PS2)
Recorded from Street Fighter Alpha Anthology on PS2.
Street Fighter Alpha 2, what a major improvement over the original. More stages, extra fighters (including a number of omitted SF2 characters), a better developed story and arguably a better opening imo. It worked as a progression forward for the series aswell as a throwback to the earlier games themselves.
I think by the time Alpha 2 was released the 2D fighting games genre had hit peak performance. Although I agree Alpha 3 was the better fighter and Garou among others did a great job in reviving consciousness of the genre, the flurry of 2D fighters and fighters in general was almost immeasurable back in 1996/97. Those days will be missed.
I actually didn't do too badly this time around, even with my awful Playstation 2 controller. I got to the second to last stage on one continue before being cheesed by Ryu to the end of the Earth. Good God.
Maybe in the future I'll upload videos of the Sega Saturn and Playstation ports of the Street Fighter Alpha games
