This video comprises 16 demos, mostly in clip form, culminating in the new World Record for the challenge of scoring all monsters, items and secrets and taking No Damage as quickly as possible on Sunlust's Map 01 'Chasing Suns'. There is commentary throughout the video, much of it streamed live on Twitch as I attempted the challenge during December 2022/January 2023.

Being supported live on Twitch really helped me to play this map a lot longer than would have been otherwise enjoyable. Thanks to everyone who contributed on stream, especially the individual whose name escapes me (sorry!) who suggested that I could insta-switch to the rocket launcher after grabbing the Berserk early in the route. I doubted that I could do it consistently, but soon the move was second nature.
Summarising 40+ hours of streams for a sub-20 minute video is hard, so you might get the impression that starting fights with the Mancubus was easy. I can assure you that thousands of attempts ended after about 10-15 seconds because the other monsters wouldn't hit the fat man, or he didn't fight back.

Coming back after illness on New Year's Day meant I felt more relaxed due to me not expecting to play well. It turns out that the virus made me feel terrible for a week but did not destroy my muscle memory for this classic opening map. I did accidentally change the HUD, so we see DoomGuy's face towards the end of the video!

The new World Record run has a good monster infight at the start, but not one of the very best, so with even more luck I would have gotten under 2:50. However, that is nitpicking because when I achieved 3:52 on 13th December, even going under 3:30 seemed like an ambitious target. After all, I tried my best and didn't get under 4 minutes in 2021!
I definitely move better when speedrunning than I used to.

I will be streaming Doom 2's Map 22 'The Catacombs' from 4pm on Friday 20th Jan 2023, a map which has been beaten for No Damage by a certain 4ShockBlast. No, I don't expect to beat him, but let's have a go anyway!
Oh, and there will be more Sunlust maps coming later on as well, for some really exciting No Damage challenges...
