This video comprises two successful runs and several short outtake clips for the challenge of scoring all monsters, items and secrets from a pistol start on Sunlust's Map 05 'Gear Up' while taking no damage, whatsoever; a.k.a. No Damage Completion. The second success was a speedrun with the target of sub-10 minutes. There is commentary throughout the video, mostly streamed live on Twitch as I played. Demos were recorded using DSDA-Doom 0.24.3 on Complevel 9 (Boom).

OK, after Bloodfalls I had a little difficulty with motivation because Doom 2's Map 25 had been such a huge deal for me. I don't dislike this map at all and I enjoy the gimmick with the armour bonuses. However, the lack of ammo was always a concern and my supplies ran low despite the large amounts of infighting. For No Damage it is very helpful that the first two 'traps' I visit can be cheesed by not making a sound. The 36 chaingunners in the thumbnail though, are buried in the floor to 'pop up', instead of teleporting in, so I could not do the same with that fight.

For the one mandatory trip across damaging floor, when I got cheeky trying a half-second at the start of the video, I was attempting to judge 6 weapon-bob cycles using 6 x 32 tics = 192 tics = 5 seconds and 17 tics, or 5.49 seconds. Subtracting this time from the 'ideal time' of 0:36.00 seconds means that starting to move on 0:30.51 would have worked, but I went too early. Sunlust is great for growing my Twitch audience, however not many maps in the megawad can be played for No Damage on Ultra Violence difficulty. Please let me know your thoughts in the comments about some possible Hurt Me Plenty Reality challenges. At the time of making this video, there are more maps to be done on Ultra Violence, including Map 10 'Maru'.

It's possible that I will come back and attempt a more polished speedrun on Map 05 one day, let's not rule anything out!
