This video comprises two full successful runs and clips of many other attempts for the challenge of scoring all monsters and secrets from a pistol start on Scythe's Map 27 'Terror', while taking no damage whatsoever at speed, a.k.a. UV Max + Reality. This culminates in the new World Record speedrun for this category. There is commentary throughout the video, much of it streamed live on Twitch as I made the attempts. Scythe is a vanilla-compatible 32-map Doom 2 megawad released in 2003 by Erik Alm and Kim 'Torn' Bach, and can be downloaded for free from: https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/megawads/scythe

Whatever possessed me to speedrun this map for No Damage? Well, in the end, I got a pretty good run, even if I do say so myself, but the repetitive closets of mid-tier enemies together with the threat of archviles undoing our hard work makes this one of Scythe's most annoying maps to do Reality at speed. Not to mention that getting the first Pain Elemental to approach reliably is very difficult; she can get trapped behind the platformed archvile and then spawn a lot of daughters when I come into view.
With the thousands of attempts there were many entertaining ones that didn't make the final cut of the video, including one in which I accidentally SR40'd out of a window, a trick that can be done on purpose (e.g. by Kimo Xvirus in their sub-10 second UV Speed demo).
Join us live on Twitch for Run From It, in which I will do a slow cautious No Damage Completion (ironically) and then see what I can do at speed. I expect to stream at around 4pm BST (GMT + 1) on Monday 14th October.
