Before starting Surprise Trade, I show a Mystery Gift code where you can get either a Sweet Herba Mystica or a Spicy Herba Mystica, this does tie in with the second episode of Paldean Winds, an animated series themed around Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.
Then for this week's Surprise Trade, I will be trading Sinistea, and as usual, I breed for 31 IVs in at least 4 or 5 stats. I went with Timid for the Nature, as it does have a decent Speed stat, but its best is Special Attack. Its Hidden Ability is Cursed Body, but I decided to go with Weak Armor, as that does give Sinistea a boost in its Speed stat.
Its only Egg Move is Ally Switch, which is a very rare move in this game, for Pokémon that learn it through level up, Armarouge, Ceruledge, Hoopa, Cresselia, and Iron Leaves can learn Ally Switch.
Sinistea has a rough start, its starting moves are Withdraw and Astonish, and for moves it can learn through level up, it can get Aromatic Mist, Mega Drain, Sucker Punch, Sweet Scent, Giga Drain, Nasty Plot, Shadow Ball, Memento, and Shell Smash. It evolves into Polteageist when a Cracked Pot is used on it, the Antique Form requires a Chipped Pot to evolve, and do note that when breeding, the Antique Form does not pass down, even if you are using an Antique Form Sinistea when breeding, the same does apply to its counterpart Poltchageist where the authentic Poltchageist can breed, but cannot pass down its authentic form. When evolved, Polteageist learns its signature move Teatime, this move has all Pokémon on the field use their held Berry, and it can relearn Strength Sap and it learns Curse.
Next are TMs, and I will go over what Polteageist learns, it can get Psybeam, Confuse Ray, Hex, Magical Leaf, Stored Power, Night Shade, Psyshock, Foul Play, Reflect, Light Screen, Metronome, Imprison, Dark Pulse, Skill Swap, Will-O-Wisp, Trick, Psychic, Calm Mind, Baton Pass, Nasty Plot, Trick Room, Tera Blast, Spite, and Poltergeist.
While this Pokémon does learn Shell Smash, Polteageist can pair that with a Focus Sash and the Weak Armor Ability, after that, it can sweep entire teams, Shadow Ball is its main move, while Giga Drain and Stored Power are its other moves, and with Stored Power combined with the boost from Shell Smash, not many Pokémon can stop it. Polteageist can even go with Tera Blast for type coverage, specially with a Fighting Tera Type to give it a way to take on Dark-type Pokémon. The downside to Polteageist is that despite its good Special Attack stat, its Speed is kind of average and it cannot take physical hits well, it can easily go down to a Sucker Punch from a Dark-type with a high Attack stat.
I couldn't find any notable placements for Polteageist in Double Battles, while it does get Ally Switch, Cresselia learns that move as well, and it does have some support options like Will-O-Wisp, Strength Sap, and many other moves. Polteageist does pair well with Indeedee, because the Psychic Terrain prevents Polteageist from being affected by priority moves, and Indeedee can use Follow Me while Polteageist uses Shell Smash to sweep with Stored Power. Flamigo can make a good teammate for Polteageist, because with Costar, Flamigo can copy Polteageist's boosts from Shell Smash. Not much to go over with Polteageist, because its counterpart Sinistcha, kind of strange how the Sinistea line and the Poltchageist line have their names flipped, but anyway, Sinistcha has access to Rage Powder, Strength Sap, Scald, Trick Room, and many other moves, making it not that easy to add Polteageist to a team in a Double Battle, the difference is Sinistcha does not get Shell Smash, which is the one advantage Polteageist has over Sinistcha.
While I did go over the rough start of Sinistea in the main game, it does require a TM for Psybeam which you can get early on to start doing well, and you might need to give it Hex through TM, as it doesn't get Shadow Ball till Level 48. You can get the Cracked Pot at South Province Area Two, which I think you need the ability to cross water in order to get it, but you can get it through the auctions at Porto Marinada. It is a good Ghost-type special attacker with access to move like Giga Drain, Psychic, and many other moves, and it can use Nasty Plot to boost its Special Attack stat if you don't like the Defense drops from Shell Smash.
In Tera Raid Battles, Polteageist has a niche use, it can use Skill Swap to give Weak Armor to the opponent, and when paired with physical attackers, this can make Tera Raid Battles easier, as Weak Armor does reduce the Defense of the Tera Raid Pokémon, but it comes at their Speed being boosted, this can be good against Tera Raid Pokémon that can have Abilities like Unaware, Mirror Armor, Defiant, those that make them normally that hard to take on.
