I've already spoken at length about the single most annoying element in this challenge - it's resetting for Lucky Time giving you 0 exp at the end of every fight. Seeing as how you face Boomer followed by Exor without so much as an auto-save in between, it's not hard to tell why it's such a nuisance to progress past this point in the challenge. The odds of getting 0 exp for two battles in a row are 1/16!

The actual boss battle is intriguing in many ways despite its brevity. It has four components, and the main one cannot be damaged at all until either the Left Eye or the Right Eye, with 300 and 500 HP respectively, are temporarily taken out. That would be the best time to spam Rock Candy, resulting in 300 damage while under the effect of Party Energizer.

Buffs galore are a must at the start, Mario still being left susceptible to damage due to his lack of elemental protection and worse stats than our other party members. Peach, while resisting most elemental damage incurred, is still largely weak to non-elemental magic and physicals that we fail to block. The boss, that is to say all four of its parts, has a large arsenal moves including not only elemental and non-elemental magic, but also physicals and status moves. Some of them are best cured ASAP, but a status like poison is mostly harmless when inflicted on Mario.

At the end of the battle, I get an experience Lucky Time. It's a 50% chance to progress to the last segment of the game without levelling up! Sadly, it's a tie, and I'll have to keep trying for that elusive 1/16 chance to kick in. Maybe another day...
