Epic ending in this fight!

As expected, Joon-gi Han emerges as a high spot in this challenge run, and battling him is quite a spectacle. Joon-gi Han is far healthier than the bosses we've previously fought and takes a while to take out, and he's offensively competent as well, dishing out strong ST and MT damage as well as inflicting three different status ailments in sleep, poison and stun. He happens to be weak to poison himself, as is the case with a lot of bosses in the game who you wouldn't expect to be susceptible. 43 HP lost per turn may not seem like much, but it accumulates quickly over time and plays a big part in causing the boss's downfall.

Prior to entering the dungeon, I'd carried out my very first reclass, class changing Saeko into Idol from her Barmaid job, where she accomplishes very little of note during the time she's forced to be used. This is made possible by her hitting lv. 15 - a threshold both Adachi and Eri haven't reached yet. This is hardly Saeko's only option, as Hostess has always been accessible to her, imposing no restrictions on level and actually being a great class offensively.

Much like Barmaid Saeko was, Clerk Eri is comparably ineffective against a single-target boss and can offer little but most basic support here, such as running item botting duties. Her reclass into Dealer won't take long now. Meanwhile, Adachi is perfectly comfortable in his default Detective class with seemingly identical Medium-power skills he can use and carry over into other jobs. We will class change him after lv. 15 nonetheless, as Enforcer is just that stronk, but for now he's the party's second best damage dealer - you can't quite match the kind of power Ichiban is throwing around, though it won't be long.

The battle starts in a fairly straightforward way compared to that cliffhanger ending, as Ichiban attacks and Adachi adds chip damage, Saeko heals (she is still limited to her single-target spell for now) and Eri does little of note. Poison is also helpful. Ichiban relies on his Essence for damage and gets his attack buffed to maximise damage, but Eri and Kasuga's Twin Fists are nowhere as strong.

At one point, Saeko falls to the boss's non-stop assault (at this point, I try not to heal non-Ichi members too much, as they have to get killed off towards the end, and we want that to happen before poison does the boss in) and I make the choice not to resurrect her. After all, Joon-gi's health is running low, and Eri might as well heal the party with items in the same way Saeko did. Well, that wasn't quite accurate, as Joon-gi spreading poison around changes the battle big time, causing us to lose the other two supporting units somewhat prematurely.

The most rousing thing occurs at the very end, with Eri failing to buff up Ichi's defence with an item by dying to poison and... Ichiban getting slept at almost the same moment! The surprises don't end there.

At the end of the fight, Adachi and Eri don't quite make it to lv. 15. Adachi will be there for the subsequent big boss though, but only at job lv. 1...
