The last boss before the final showdown with Smithy. This is quite a short fight, possibly shorter than some of the forced battles with mooks on our way in the game's final dungeon. However, the tactics at work to make it all play out painlessly are interesting enough to share the recording. It's also one cool-looking enemy, I think, to add to this video series!

Gunyolk is the healthiest enemy here, at 1,500 HP, and the deadliest, capable of wiping the party out on any even turn with Breaker Beam, which it doesn't need to recharge from, unlike the Axem Brothers, continuing its physical assault. It is also Ice-weak, meaning we can take it out in 3 Ice Bomb uses thrown by units equipped with Quartz Gem and Troopa Medal, which necessitates no Party Energizers being used. Factory Chief lacks the ice weakness its machine has, making it the more durable of the two bosses in spite of having a third less HP.

One more time, I use Geno instead of Bowser. While Bowser's best bulk in the party may make him an appealing choice, Geno enables the triple move that will protect all three party members from exactly one attack (it's a shame the shield disappears even if said attack is blocked), a weaker MT Red Essence that saves a use of the item for Smithy, which is handy considering it's far more time-consuming to farm than another three Rock Candies. The Factory Chief will then most probably break the shield on one of the party members, unless he whiffs his attack, so we'd best pray it's Peach who takes the hit, as the combination of Lazy Shell armour and Quartz Gem is enough to withstand the punishment. Geno and the others attack, Mario attacking with his Lucky Hammer to trigger Lucky Time later on if alive, on the first turn and activating the triple move before the second turn, when Breaker Beam is used. In the video, Mario triggers the triple move instead after being resurrected.

This is about the time Gunyolk will fall, leaving the boss alone. There's not much he can do attacking us with single-target attacks and trying to inflict negative status. Two decently powerful moves, like Jump and Star Egg, will put an end to the battle.

Only the battle against Smithy remains now!
