Here, I travel through more of the pinkish lower region of Brinstar.

One powerup I get here is called "Spazer". It's a mod for Samus's arm cannon that lets her shoot yellow beams in waves of 3. If this is your first beam upgrade, I suggest you keep it on until you find something better. You can still charge with this, though.

In one room, you can see Samus traveling through a tube underwater. Outside of the tube will eventually lead to the aquatic land of Meridia, but I can't reach this yet.

Based on the path that I take here, it eventually leads me to one of the main four bosses: Kraid. Notice how there's a mini-Kraid in the an area before this boss.

He is a huge, disgusting lizard-like beast that shoots sharp claws and blades out of its belly. To kill him, you have to feed him your blasts.

Charge Beams, Missiles, Super Missiles, they all work. I realize that you first have to shoot at his face to make him open his mouth, so remember that.

Do everything well, and he'll go down. 1 down, 3 more to go.

The door he was guarding leads to a suit. In this case, it's the Varia Suit, the familiar orange, red, & yellow suit that we know the most of for the Metroid franchise.

In this game, it cuts any damage Samus takes in half and makes her completely immune to extremely hot rooms. Physical contact with lava will still hurt her, however. Remember this when you have to venture through the Norfair region.
