Super Metroid - Part 5: Traveling Through Norfair
199The Varia Suit I just got cuts all damage Samus takes in half, and makes her immune to superhot rooms. Direct contact with lava will still hurt her, though.
Despite this, with enough energy, I can go through lava areas, anyway, at the risk of dying, of course.
Most of this video consists of me going through Norfair: The lava land of Planet Zebes.
I get several more items here, such as more Missile powerups, more Energy Tanks, a Reserve Tank, the Hi-Jump Boots, the Speed Booster, and the Wave Beam.
Reserve Tanks are spare Energy Tanks that, when set to "Auto", automatically give Samus some energy back if goes down to zero.
The Hi-Jump Boots are just that: They make Samus jump high. I can use this to my advantage to break some sequences with some tight wall jumping. Especially in areas where I have to use the Grappling Beam, which I still need to get.
The Speed Booster makes Samus run at supersonic speeds after a couple of seconds. She can use this to break through certain walls.
The Wave Beam is more powerful than the beams I got before. It can pass through walls and it can be combined with the Spazer Beam for even more range.
From the looks of the map, I went in a bit of a circle through Norfair. The next video will show me trying to go through more of it, as well as maybe another area, if necessary.
