I play as one of the original 12 from Super Smash Bros. 64, and it is Jigglypuff, which I do Classic Mode with. Jigglypuff being on the starting roster in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U makes it the first and only time in the series that the original 12 have ever been available on the starting roster, this was not the case in the 3DS version, Jigglypuff was an unlockable character in that version, you had to collect 30 different equipment or play 120 Vs. Matches, and Jigglypuff was the final character you unlock through Vs. Matches, I have always found that unusual, because in 64 and Melee, Jigglypuff was one of the first character you unlock, in Brawl, it is one of the last characters unlocked.
Going over Classic Mode, in Rounds 1 to 3, you fight characters in their default costumes, in Rounds 4 and 5, you fight characters in their alternate costumes, in Round 6, you fight against the Fighting Mii Team, and in the final round, you fight Master Hand, or on Intensity 3.0 or higher, you fight Crazy Hand as well, and on an even higher Intensity, you fight against Master Core.
Then custom moves, as this is the only game in the series to have them, first is Rollout, the first custom variant for Jigglypuff's neutral special is Relentless Rollout, which travels faster and cannot be stopped, even when Jigglypuff makes contact with an opponent, the attack can hit the opponent up to about 4 to 6 times, this move tends to be better for recovery. Jigglypuff's other custom variant for its neutral special is Raging Rollout, this takes more time to charge, and it is faster and really powerful, but the downside is Jigglypuff cannot change direction. Next is Jigglypuff's side special, Pound, the first variant is Sideways Pound, which deals less damage and launches opponent's sideways, the downside is Jigglypuff does not gain momentum when it is used in the air, making it not that great for recovery, and the other variant is Pound Blitz, which is a multi-hit move, and Jigglypuff slides further when using the move, making it much better for recovery, but it deals less damage. Then for what Jigglypuff is well known for, and that is Sing, the first custom variant for that move is Hyper Voice, which does not put opponents to sleep, instead it deals damage using sound waves, and it can hit opponents that are in the air, but it is a bit slower, the other custom variant is Spinphony, which flips opponents, much like Mario's Cape, the second and third sound waves deal damage, the move is slower, making it one of the worse custom moves in the game. Then for Jigglypuff's most infamous move in Smash history, Rest, while it has high knockback, this does leave Jigglypuff wide open to an attack, and the flower effect was in Brawl, but I never even noticed it until this game. The first variant for that move is Leaping Rest, which launches Jigglypuff upward while it sleeps, but it has less knockback, and the other variant is Wakie Wakie, which is called Wakey-Wakey in the European version, when Jigglypuff sleeps, it pushes opponents back, and when it wakes up, it creates an explosion, but it does deal 5% recoil damage, and it is faster than Rest.
Jigglypuff is one of many character to remain in the low tiers after being a low tier character itself in Brawl, and it didn't receive much in updates, it isn't one of my best characters to use in this game, but I do like Jigglypuff's high air speed in Ultimate and making use of that, I don't tend to use Rest that often, because if you miss that move completely, Jigglypuff is left wide open to attack, and it is one of the lightest characters in the game.
