The last of the Pokémon characters, well not the last Pokémon character, but if we are going by roster order and the base roster, Greninja is the last of the Pokémon characters, it won't be a while till we get to Mewtwo. Before the DLC update, Greninja was the most recent character when it came to when their home games came out, Greninja first appeared in Pokémon X & Y, which was released in 2013, and it was the most recent game when it came to playable characters at the time, but then we got Corrin, even though Fire Emblem Fates had not released outside of Japan at the time of Corrin's announcement.
As with Classic Mode, in Rounds 1 to 3, you fight characters in their default costumes, in Rounds 4 and 5, you fight characters in their alternate costumes, in Round 6, you fight against the Fighting Mii Team, and in the final round, you fight Master Hand, or on Intensity 3.0 or higher, you fight Crazy Hand as well, and on Intensity 5.1 or higher, you fight against Master Core.
Then for custom moves, as this is the only game in the series to have custom moves, Greninja's neutral special is Water Shuriken, this was its signature move in the main series Pokémon games, the first custom variant for that move is Stagnant Shuriken, which is called Still Water Shuriken in Europe, which hovers in place wherever it was created and hits multiple times, and the other is Shifting Shuriken, where Greninja can fire two different kinds of shurikens, when the button is tapped, it launches foes upward, and when the button is held down, the shuriken passes through opponents and sends them towards Greninja. The side special is Shadow Sneak, the first variant for that move is Shadow Strike, the move is slower and more powerful, the shadow moves much further, and the other custom move is Shadow Dash, where Greninja teleports to a set distance, it is faster, but it has less knockback. Greninja's up special is Hydro Pump, the first custom variant is High-Capacity Pump, which is slower and easier to control, but it does not deal damage, the other move is Single-Shot Pump, which is more powerful, but the direction cannot be changed. Next is Greninja's down special, Substitute, this one is a counterattack, the first variant is Exploding Attack, Greninja disappears for a short time and reappears with a powerful explosion, it is not a counterattack, and the other variant is Substitute Ambush, the difference is Greninja disappears for a longer amount of time, and the attack is more powerful than Substitute.
Greninja is one of the faster characters in the game, and it did receive some nerfs in one update, which led to the nerf Greninja meme, and then some more updates did give Greninja some buffs. I remember in Greninja's reveal trailer where many people believe it was Mewtwo, even though that was clearly a Water Shuriken and not a Shadow Ball, and this did lead to speculation on whether or not Mewtwo would return, and this was before Mewtwo was announced to be the first DLC character in this game.
