It is time to play as the first newcomer in roster order, well not the first one revealed, but anyway, I play as Rosalina & Luma in Classic Mode, and they have a unique playstyle where Rosalina can use Luma in battle as like a tag team, sort of like Ice Climbers, which were cut from this game because they couldn't get Ice Climbers to work in the 3DS version, and interesting bit of trivia, this game is the first time Rosalina has ever been on the starting roster in any game, because in the Mario Kart series, Rosalina was an unlockable character in those games, the first Mario game to have Rosalina available from the start is Mario Party 10, which came out after this game.
As with Classic Mode, you go up against some characters in Rounds 1 to 3 where they use their default costume, and in Rounds 4 to 5, you fight characters that use alternate costumes and have custom moves, in Round 6, you go up against the Fighting Mii Team on Battlefield, and at the end, you fight against Master Hand, or depending on the Intensity, you fight both Master Hand and Crazy Hand, and on an even higher Intensity, you fight against Master Core, and the starting form is based on the Intensity.
Time to go over custom moves in the description, as this is the only Super Smash Bros. game to have them, most of Rosalina's special moves make use of Luma in many ways, her neutral special is Luma Shot, where Rosalina can fire Luma as a missile, and it is more powerful when charged, for her custom moves, the first one is Luma Warp, where Rosalina can teleport Luma away from her, and while the move isn't powerful, Luma can be warped at a faster speed, and the other custom move is Power Luma Shot, where Luma moves more slowly while spinning and it doesn't travel that far, and it has good knockback. Next is Star Bits, which is not a projectile move despite Luma shooting them at opponents, for the custom moves of that, the first one is Floaty Star Bit, where Luma fires one large Star Bit, which moves slowly, and it deals multiple hits, and the other move is Shooting Star Bit, which is a projectile move, Luma fires one Star Bits that travels further and it is much faster. Rosalina's up special is Launch Star, where she flies into the air and can be used to recover, for the custom variants, the first one is Launch Star Plus, where she can be fired quicker, but you cannot control the angle of her ascent, and the other variant is Launch Star Attack, where Rosalina can travel a shorter distance, but it can deal damage and launch opponents. Her down special is Gravitation Pull, which can be used to draw in items, and I didn't use that move that much back then, it was Ultimate where I started making use of that move in online battles. The custom variants for that move are Catch & Release, which draws in fighters and deal damage to them, and it does not draw in items or projectiles, making it not as good as Gravitational Pull, and the other variant is Guardian Luma, where Luma grows larger and protect Rosalina from attacks, and it can draw in item, Luma can damage nearby fighters, making it good for attacking.
I remember when Rosalina was first revealed, the trailer first showed Kirby riding on a Warp Star, and then it showed the Mario characters racing on Rainbow Road, and I thought at first that Kirby would be a DLC character in Mario Kart 8 in that trailer, I was not even expecting Rosalina to be a playable character in this game, most of the fans were expecting Waluigi to be playable, but he is still an Assist Trophy, even to this day, and as with Rainbow Road, that is a stage in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS, and it based on Rainbow Road from Mario Kart 7, and the stage acts like Port Town Aero Dive where you fight on a platform that moves around the track and stops at various places, that track was not brought back to Ultimate.
